Please try to talk

I must say that as a first time mom I am going through a period of amazement. I thought that this feeling would slowly go away after the first few months of my baby coming into the world. I remember seeing him for the first time and thinking that nothing could ever amaze me that much. But then were was the sitting up, crawling, walking and now we are on to talking. I am really amazed everyday. It is so awesome to hear him say things that he likes or doesn't like, to know I can say one word to him and it light up his face. I love to hear his sweet voice respond to me when I sing, cook, clean up, bake, whatever. Yesterday morning I finished a large wedding cake and was in the cleaning up process as Wrigs woke. I heard his footsteps rounding the corner and as soon as he did his eyes lit up and he said "cake" followed by an "oh wow!". I love to know that he is putting thoughts together and connecting things in his mind. It is nice to know that some of the work I do as a mom is paying off. I am ready for my little chatterbox to speak up!

The Time Has Arrived

I don't know what is in the air in the blogging world but in the past two weeks I have received emails from four friends announcing their blogs to the world. Maybe there is something wrong with me but for the longest time I have stood firm against the peer pressure to ramble to the world about my daily nothings....until now. I can't take it any longer, I must join in and become one of you. Why not, it's not like I have nothing else to do. Who wouldn't like to read about my son having his first encounter with a chocolate rabbit or about an edible creation I am drafting in my head? Why is it that we enjoy putting together just the right words about our daily lives so that thousands of faceless friends can read? It is a mystery to me. But, if I can gain some sense of normalcy about my hectic life by sharing my stories and dreams with you then it will well be worth it. I will try to keep this blog simply business, but since my business is surrounded by an almost two year old who will do just about anything to get just one taste of my buttercream then you might find me talking about my personal life as well. I promise, if you could be here to see how fast he can sign the words "more" and "please" after I pull a fresh cake out of the oven then you would write about it too! Until next time, happy baking!
